EOC Community Services provides a wide array of supportive services—everything
from help in getting a child-sized winter coat to buying a first
home. Programs fall generally within the following areas: Community-Based
Initiatives, Financial Self-Sufficiency, Housing and Homeless
Prevention, Job Training, and Utility Assistance.

Coats for Kids Program

No eligibility requirements.
|
The Coats for Kids Programs provides locally
donated winter clothing, mostly usable fall and winter coats
to children in need. Snow pants, vests, hats, and other
winter clothing may also be donated. Local residents may
drop off clothing at Northwest Savings and Atlantic Broadband
at designated times. The coats are then cleaned by Jarvis
Cleaners and brought to EOC where they are made available
to anyone in need of winter clothing. The program runs from
mid-October through February.

Requires each participant to set a savings

start up of a new business, or the purchase of a new vehicle.
All savings are matched dollar for dollar up to $2,000 over
a two or three year period. Participants must save a minimum
of $10 per week, and attend 4 FSA Financial Literacy workshops.

10 hours a week for months 1-6, 20 hours a week for months
7-12, and 30 hours a week for months 13-18. Participation
includes a variety of work activities. Job retention is
met after 3 months of working in a 30-hour a week job

In some cases, recipients may be able to enroll in ABE or
GED classes to improve their chances of gaining employment.
Once a recipient has gained employment the CAO caseworker
determines if the client is to remain in WSC for retention
services or to be transferred to SWP or CDC and officially
opens a TANF Cash Case.

Reduces gas costs by capping the customer’s
payment based on gross income and gradual forgiving of arrears
on the account.

consists of lump sum deposit on the account. Funds utilized
when LIHEAP is not available.
